Jiaqing Mo was born in 1993, now lives and works in Hangzhou and Shanghai. She graduated from China Academy of Art in the major of ‘Film and Television Director’ for a bachelor’s degree in 2015, then carried out her postgraduate in Chelsea School of Art, London University of Arts in the major of Pure Art and graduated in distinction. She won the ‘Tiffany&Co. X Outset Studiomakers Prize’ in 2017 in London, UK. And in 2018 won the ‘The P:I:G Foundation Prize by Henrik Vibskov’ at Copenhagen, Danmark.

Mo's works focused on video, installation and performance art, as well as visual art. She is good at creating a set of her own philosophical concepts in the images and installations, including questions about human living conditions and social relationships. She uses her special visual language to construct surreal or unconventional visual images and pictures.

Anti - functional, anti - structural is also a main feature of the works. The combination of artificial things and living things are used to break the original function of articles, weaken the function and reconstruct the function again. Therefore, human beings become symbol elements in symbolic works instead of human beings.

In her video work, using vivid colors in the visual to contrast with the slow and calm pace, blending into the delicate soundtrack, and pulling out the hidden storyline behind each work. Extracting daily substance, emotions, and behaviors, re-shaping the collage in a surreal way, creating an imaginary alienated world to reflect and explore the various problems that modern humans derive.
