Jinxi, One Man At A Lonely Island
In October 2018, Li Zhenhua chose to stay in Jinxi for a short time, feeling the legacy of its history, and recording the daily state. After a lapse of one year, returning to this old place, this relocation has also opened a new chapter for the continuation of the artist’s "Writing/Cooking" project. Traces that were preserved in the past have been washed away by time and space, laid out once again flat before the public.
In the “One Man on a Lonely Island” series, the reality of living in Jinxi gives the artist the space to imagine, thoughts continuing to ferment, connecting together into small poems to flow into the hearts of all readers.
“This is a long-term writing project, which began fomenting during a period in residency at Jinxi, writing naturally up to today.
“The sovereign of a lonely island is me, it is you, it refers to the Other. If you find the sovereign of a lonely island, maybe it is within your heart, or maybe it is a lonely friend.
“The text of this series is written for anyone. There are no restrictions on age, country, and ethnicity. The cute little animals, flowers and plants on the island should be able to be found by your side.
“This is a piece of writing about purity and beauty, a simple lonely island, full of vitality and life.”
